* This comes on the back of the stupid controversy where the politicos are spending public money debating on the length - or lack of it - of cheerleader's dresses. Read more about it
here.
Are we crazy or is this really happening?
Don't these dunderheads have anything better to do?
Who is running the country in the meanwhile?

Matheikal: thanks... you are right, the cheerleaders as an issue is really not relevant, but the very fact that these worthies, our execrable leaders choose to waste our time and money on such non-issues makes the blood boil... :-)

The cartoon is interesting. And the message that politicians could spend their time for better purposes is good. (Though whether politicians actually do anything 'good' , let alone better, is a debatable issue in itself) But the relevance of cheer-leading in a game that has already gobbled up most other games is also questionable - at least a little more questionable than the length of their skirt.

Santosh: Absolutely right there... this is actually a non-issue.
) Imagine sitting with 50,000 + people jam-packed in a stadium, with those steel grills separating the crowd from the ground... what effect could half a dozen scantily clad girls have? Beats me! :-)
I have seen a match in the stadium with the cheerleaders in place... and having my 12 year-old son in tow. The whole thing is hyped. You can barely see anything (bare - pun not intended
As for TV coverage, yes... those guys should be chastised. No way should they eat into the actual coverage to focus on the girls and their assets.

Nice cartoon ! Reminds me of the cartoon where a couple tries to have 'safe sex' in full armour ! Is this what they call having a 'veil of a time'????? So the politicians are on a 'cover' drive?
Sex and violence definitely sell. But as long as the game is not stopped to enable the cheerleaders antics who cares? With the Harbhajan incident we are getting both sex and violence in IPL at the same time ! Maybe the cheerleaders could cheer for each slap !
What if these cheerleaders carry placards that highlighted important issues i wonder. Like 'Stop Smoking' ! or 'Stop Female Infanticide !' Now theres a way to get more eyeballs towards these issues
Santosh
that would be something good

Karigarji: Welcome sir... and thanks...it's been a long time...

Yes, this issue has more than one side. (Check P K Sundar's blog - he's brought out two facets very well)... but my focus is chiefly the hypocrisy and rank stupidity of a non-issue... :-)
Even today's newspaper has Bal Thackeray taking pot shots at Sharad Pawar about the farmers' suicides and linking it to the cheerleaders!
